To insure that your pet’s surgical procedure goes as smoothly as possible, please be aware of the following:
-
A pre-surgical exam is required for all new patients prior to surgery.
- No food after midnight the night before surgery. Water may remain available at all times.
- Drop-off time is between 8:00am to 8:30am on the morning of surgery.
- Pets must be current on Rabies and Distemper vaccines in order to be admitted to the hospital overnight. If required vaccines are not current, they will be administered at the time of admission. Canine Bordetella is not a required vaccine but is, however, strongly recommended. In addition, if fleas are seen on the pet at time of admission, or at any time during their hospital stay, treatment will be required at owner’s expense.
- For your pet’s safety, please have cats in a carrier and dogs on a leash.
- There may be additional cost associated with your pet’s procedure if the following apply:
Pet is pregnant, pet is in heat, pet is a cyrptorchid male, pet is extremely large.
- If not presented prior, a written treatment plan with associated cost is available on request prior to leaving your pet.
- Surgeries are performed early in the day and the majority of pets should be recovered by 4:00pm. However, a staff member will call to advise you that your pet’s procedure is complete, let you know how he/she is doing, as well as give you a suggested time of release for your pet.
-
If current Rabies vaccine was not administered by Ranson Animal Hospital, a valid Rabies Certificate must be presented at time of admission or an additional Rabies vaccine must be administered at time of procedure. Double-vaccination is not harmful to your pet, but is an added unnecessary expense if previously administered.
- The pet’s nails will be trimmed while under sedation at no charge to you. If this service is not desired, please let admitting staff member know at time of check-in.
- Please allow time to review pre-surgical paperwork with a team member and to obtain required signatures and contact information at time of admission.
- To reschedule or cancel an appointment, please call the hospital as soon as possible
